Great Ways To Increase Your Business Coaching Practice
You may be teaching marketing to other people to improve their
business but you could be forgetting to apply the same principles
to your business coaching practice. As in other businesses, your
coaching practice too needs to be marketed properly and you need
to circulate well to reach your intended ‘students’.
In addition to normal advertisements in regular media such as newspapers
and the Internet, you could also start advertising in periodicals,
which are printed by various associations that are connected to
your line of coaching. For example, if you are coaching on anything
connected to the steel market, then you could advertise or even
write articles connected to the steel market in the association’s
periodical. This could slowly build up your name as an expert and
help you in increasing your coaching practice. You could also conduct
regular workshops in your subjects jointly with these associations
or groups. During these workshops, try and get the details and feedback
of all the participants and also give your contact details to each
and every one of them. Keep your workshops informative and interesting
and inject it regularly with some humor. Market yourself as a brand
name during those workshops. You should be perceived as a warm human
being with complete knowledge and capable of solving problems. This
will have your name on everybody’s mind and lips. Pass out
empty files with your name and business details printed on the front
and inside of those files. Your participants can use these files,
and they will always have your details inside. You could collect
all the visiting cards in a bowl while announcing a free gift at
the end of your workshop. The gift should be such that all your
participants stick around till the end of your workshop and you
too have a bowl full of potential customers. You can then follow
up on those visiting cards.
Update your knowledge regularly to stay ahead of the pack and during
your workshops, give new ideas to solve old problems. Indicate to
your participants that there are more ideas from where that idea
came from and they can probe when they join your regular business
coaching classes. Show them the trailer and entice them to sign
up. You yourself could attend some course connected to your subject,
to observe how other coaches interact with their students. This
could also help you in interacting with your students, and also
avoid mistakes. By becoming a student yourself in others workshops,
you will also get a feel as to the needs of participants and better
understanding as to how to impress them and solve their queries.
Your personality and communication skills are equally important
when you are coaching. Just having technical knowledge about your
field is not enough if most of your participants fall asleep within
the first 20 minutes of your speech. So in addition to your technical
skills, brush up on your communication skills. Share anecdotes or
stories in between your speech to keep your participants interested
and alert. Balance your technical and social skills to communicate
well with your participants. Observing your participants will give
you an idea of the direction you are heading.
